Lynchburg Man Arrested in Connection to Multiple Bicycle Thefts at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Antwain Maurice Booth, a 45-year-old man from Lynchburg, has been arrested in connection with several bicycle thefts on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg.

Booth is facing multiple charges, including seven counts of misdemeanor larceny, five counts of misdemeanor destruction of property, and one felony count of possession of burglary tools.

The investigation began after a report of a stolen bicycle on January 27, 2025. Upon further investigation, police identified Booth as a suspect. Between January 20 and January 27, 2025, it is believed that Booth stole 20 bicycles. While nine bicycles were recovered, authorities believe the remaining 11 were sold.

Virginia Tech Police (VTPD) say Booth acted alone and has no affiliation with the university. However, they are continuing their investigation to determine whether Booth may have been involved in other thefts in the Blacksburg area.

VTPD is also encouraging anyone who has had their bicycle stolen recently to contact Sergeant J. Brooks at 540-231-3472 or Detective K. Ball at 540-231-6790 to reclaim their property.

Anyone with information related to these thefts should reach out to the police department at (540) 382-4343.
