A 19-year-old Class 12 student from Lucknow, identified as Vikas Saini, was arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery worth lakhs from his girlfriend’s relative to buy tickets for rapper Honey Singh’s concert. The stolen jewellery belonged to Usha Bisht, a 35-year-old woman from Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, who had come to Lucknow for a wedding.
Saini reportedly convinced his girlfriend to help him access the jewellery stored in a cupboard at her home. Once inside, he fled with the valuable items. The theft came to light when Usha Bisht filed a complaint with the Para police on March 8, stating that the jewellery had gone missing on February 5. After an investigation, the police arrested Saini on Saturday, along with a goldsmith named Vipin Kumar, who had bought the stolen jewellery.
The police recovered melted gold and ₹62,000 in cash from the accused. Saini had frequently visited the house and learned about the jewellery’s location from his girlfriend, Anjali Rana. Taking advantage of the situation, he stole the items and later sold them to the jeweller near Thakurganj Dwarkapuri Yadav Market.
