On February 18, the Government Railway Police (GRP) made a significant arrest at the Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station. The suspect, later identified as Salman, alias Raghav, was apprehended on platform number 8/9 after being under suspicion for over three hours. Police officers on routine patrol noticed the man acting suspiciously, seated for an extended period. When approached for questioning, the suspect tried to flee but was quickly apprehended by the officers.
It was soon discovered that Salman was already a suspect in several ongoing theft investigations under the GRP’s jurisdiction. Upon further questioning, he confessed to his involvement in multiple thefts at the station and on trains.
Salman, a resident of Daliganj, Lucknow, explained that his modus operandi involved targeting sleeping or distracted passengers on trains. He would steal valuables such as mobile phones and bags and then flee the scene immediately. His arrest is part of the GRP’s continued efforts to combat theft, robbery, poisoning, and drug smuggling on trains and railway property.
