Louis Barnett, 32, was arrested at Birmingham Airport while attempting to leave for a holiday, just two days after committing a violent robbery in Kingsbury, Warwickshire. Barnett, along with an accomplice, broke into a home on March 5 and attempted to steal two cars from the driveway. When both cars were found to have security measures in place, the robbers fled with only the keys, but not before threatening and assaulting one of the occupants.
The robbery victims were left shaken after being subjected to a “terrifying ordeal” in their own home. A forensic examination revealed Barnett’s blood at the crime scene, leading to his identification as a suspect. Barnett was arrested at Birmingham Airport on March 7 while preparing to board a flight. He was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for robbery, assault, attempted car theft, and possession of an offensive weapon.
