Longview Woman Pleads Guilty in 2021 Fatal Vehicle Incident

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – A Longview woman, Pauliszia Ynette Stewart, pleaded guilty Thursday to the death of Kilgore resident George Stoker, who was struck by a vehicle in April 2021.

Stewart, 48, faced charges of criminally negligent homicide after allegedly hitting Stoker, 47, with her vehicle during an altercation. Tragically, Stoker did not survive the incident.

Judge Scott Novy announced that Stewart would be placed on probation until May 30, at which time a status hearing will be conducted to determine whether a jail sentence will be imposed.

Court testimony revealed that Stewart and Stoker were in a romantic relationship, but their relationship was marred by physical violence. According to Stewart, they were driving on the Longview loop when a fight broke out. During the altercation, Stoker attempted to seize control of the vehicle’s steering wheel, leading Stewart to panic. She explained that Stoker exited the vehicle when he allegedly pulled out a knife, and in her panic, she pressed the accelerator, not realizing that Stoker was still in the path of the vehicle.

Stewart also testified that Stoker was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the incident.

Stewart, who had worked as a bus driver for Longview ISD, was terminated from her position following the fatal accident.
