A London man, Brandon Ford, 31, who was wanted by police after skipping his sentencing hearing this week, has turned himself in.
Ford failed to appear in court on Wednesday, where he was set to be sentenced for charges related to a shooting and home invasion that took place last year in London. Following his absence, police issued an arrest warrant and released his mugshot to the public in an effort to locate him.
On Friday, Ford voluntarily surrendered to the police at their headquarters.
Ford had previously pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, including discharging a firearm, robbery with a weapon, breaching probation, and two counts of violating a release order. As a result, he was granted bail on July 22 by Ontario Court Justice Kevin McHugh. The judge allowed Ford to be released after he had spent time in custody since his arrest on March 2, 2023, so he could be with his daughter, who was born during his time in jail, and to attend to personal matters.
In addition to his original charges, Ford now faces further accusations, including mischief, failing to attend court, and non-compliance with his release order. He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday afternoon.
Ford’s case has raised concerns about compliance with court orders, and his failure to attend his sentencing hearing has now led to more legal troubles.
