MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — Linda Maria Palacio, 39, was arrested on January 7 and charged with felony burglary and grand theft following an alleged theft involving her teenage son in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by WPLG, Palacio and her son, reportedly aged between 13 and 15, are accused of breaking into an apartment on November 13, 2024. The alleged burglary involved stealing a jar containing $1,300 in cash and a $200 carton of cigarettes.
Miami police report that the pair allegedly forced open the apartment door, and the incident was captured on a Ring camera. The footage reportedly showed the teenage accomplice, whose face was covered with a towel, opening the door and allowing his mother inside. Palacio, also masked, was seen covering the camera, though it recorded her showing her son where the money jar was hidden.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, had reportedly been in an on-again, off-again sexual relationship with Palacio for about 10 years. He was the one who identified her to authorities, leading to her arrest.
Both Palacio and her son were taken into custody and questioned by police. While the son provided a statement, it was not made public due to his status as a minor. He has not been named as a codefendant.
During questioning, Palacio reportedly became uncooperative and raised her voice when confronted with the Ring camera footage. She is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, with her bond for the burglary charge still pending. Palacio has a hearing scheduled for Friday regarding her misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and resisting arrest.
