by Sophia Bennett

A suspect has been arrested following an investigation into the theft of funds from the HDISD Booster Club and the WHD Athletic Association by the Liberty County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office.

Constable John Tucker reported that the investigation was launched after the office received a collection of documents detailing the missing funds. After reviewing the files alongside Sgt. Martel, the suspect was identified as Tonia K. Dodd, 55, from Daisetta.

Investigators found probable cause to believe that $8,097.67 had been taken from separate accounts. This led to the issuance of a warrant by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, Jimmy Belt, charging Dodd with theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000, a state jail felony.

Dodd was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail. Constable Tucker expressed his gratitude to the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this case.
