Liberian Man Joshua Odarbeh Arrested for Attempting to Sell Son

PLEEBO, LIBERIA – Authorities in Pleebo, Maryland County, have arrested 38-year-old Joshua Odarbeh for allegedly attempting to sell his 11-year-old son, Prosperous Odarbeh.

How the Arrest Unfolded
🔹 Odarbeh reportedly contacted businessman and musician Abraham Weah, also known as DJ Cassava Leaf, offering to sell his son.
🔹 Instead of ignoring the request, Weah strategically responded, suggesting an in-person meeting.
🔹 He even covered Odarbeh’s travel costs to lure him to Maryland County.
🔹 As soon as Odarbeh arrived at Weah’s business center, police were alerted, leading to his immediate arrest.

Suspect’s Defense
🔹 Speaking after his arrest, Odarbeh blamed a “Satanic attack” for his actions.
🔹 He admitted knowing Weah since 2020 and purchasing a phone from his shop in 2023.
🔹 However, he denied past involvement in human trafficking, claiming he simply wanted to see if Weah was interested.

Ongoing Investigation
🔹 Liberian police have launched a full investigation into the case.
🔹 The child’s mother has been invited for questioning.
🔹 Authorities are also examining whether Odarbeh was part of a larger trafficking network or acting out of economic desperation.

The case raises serious concerns about child exploitation and human trafficking in Liberia. Investigations continue as Odarbeh remains in police custody.
