Leon Denny Charged with Homicide in Fatal Overdose

(WFRV) — A 27-year-old man has been charged with homicide in connection with a fatal overdose that occurred in 2024.

Leon Denny, of the Town of Oneida, faces multiple charges, including first-degree reckless homicide and multiple counts of bail jumping, following his alleged involvement in the overdose death of a victim in December 2024. According to a criminal complaint obtained by Local 5, the overdose incident was reported just before 7 p.m. on December 28, 2024.

Authorities investigated the scene and identified a suspect vehicle. Later, Denny was linked to the crime, and on April 24, the U.S. Marshals Service executed a warrant at a residence in Oneida, where Denny was arrested. During an interview with investigators, Denny allegedly admitted to selling drugs to the victim.

Denny now faces the following charges:

First-degree reckless homicide – as a party to a crime, repeater (Felony, up to 60 years in prison, with a possible two-year enhancement for being a repeater)

Misdemeanor bail jumping, repeater (Up to 9 months in prison, with a potential two-year enhancement for being a repeater)

Felony bail jumping, repeater (Two counts, up to 6 years in prison, with a possible two-year enhancement for being a repeater)

Denny made his initial court appearance on April 25, 2025, and his cash bond was set at $50,000. He is scheduled for a status conference on May 9.
