Lenoir Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Shooting in Hickory

HICKORY, N.C. — Javier Hampton Trevino, Jr., a 20-year-old man from Lenoir, was arrested on January 2 on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The charges stem from a shooting incident that took place on January 1 in Hickory.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on January 1, Hickory Police responded to a shooting in the area of 2nd Street N.W. and Main Avenue N.W. Officers arrived to find 22-year-old Jordan Blake Ramey of Yadkinville suffering from gunshot wounds. Ramey was initially taken to Frye Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. At the time of the latest report, Ramey was listed in stable condition.

According to the Hickory Police Department, the investigation revealed that Trevino had been involved in an altercation with another group of individuals nearby when he fired shots that struck Ramey. The victim was not involved in the altercation and was not associated with either the suspect or the other group. Trevino fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir Police Department assisted with the investigation, leading to Trevino’s apprehension. He was arrested and placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. A first appearance in District Court is scheduled for January 3 in Newton.
