Lenin Gonzalez-Casanas and Markenia Sanchez-Alvarez Arrested for Drug Trafficking

Osceola County, FL – A federal arrest operation on Monday led to the capture of two individuals and the recovery of large quantities of heroin, fentanyl, and nearly $5,000 in cash. The operation involved a coordinated effort between federal agents and Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies, targeting suspected drug trafficking activities in Kissimmee.

Federal authorities from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Homeland Security Investigations had been monitoring the location at Cane Island Loop, west of Kissimmee, for several days prior to the arrest. Surveillance led them to Lenin Gonzalez-Casanas, 26, who was observed leaving his residence and meeting briefly with his girlfriend, Markenia Sanchez-Alvarez, 22, in a parking lot. After the brief interaction, Gonzalez-Casanas returned to the apartment carrying a red duffel bag.

At this point, agents moved in to detain Gonzalez-Casanas on a federal warrant. Sanchez-Alvarez, present at the scene, consented to a search of the duffel bag, which revealed suspicious items, including two bags containing a light blue powdery substance and a pink powder, along with a digital scale and nearly $5,000 in cash. The substances were later identified as 22.5 grams of heroin and cocaine and 7.8 grams of fentanyl.

Both Gonzalez-Casanas and Sanchez-Alvarez refused to cooperate with investigators. The couple was charged with trafficking fentanyl (4 grams or more) and trafficking heroin (14 grams or more). Both remain in custody at the Osceola County Jail, with no bond, as of Tuesday afternoon.

This operation marks another success in the ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking operations in the area. Federal agents and local law enforcement continue to target individuals involved in the illicit drug trade, working to prevent dangerous substances like fentanyl and heroin from reaching communities.
