Lee L. Richardson Arrested for Murder of Matthew Skye Keister

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Lee L. Richardson, 23, of no fixed address, was arrested today by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in Prince George’s County for the murder of Matthew Skye Keister, whose body was discovered in a trashcan on January 27, 2025, in Hollywood, Maryland.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a male not breathing in the 25000 block of Jones Wharf Road. Upon arrival, deputies found the deceased victim, later identified as 19-year-old Matthew Skye Keister from Hollywood. The victim’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound.

Following an extensive investigation, deputies identified Richardson, a known associate of Keister, as the suspect. A warrant for Richardson’s arrest was issued on January 30, 2025. He was apprehended in Prince George’s County today by the U.S. Marshals.

Richardson faces several charges, including second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, and the unlawful burial or disposal of a body. He is currently being held at the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, pending further proceedings.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Metro Crime Stoppers or by contacting the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office directly.

The filing of criminal charges is not evidence of guilt but rather a formal accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
