A man and woman were arrested in Plantersville on February 7, 2025, after a search warrant led to the discovery of significant amounts of methamphetamine and a firearm.

The arrests followed an investigation into drug trafficking in the area. Officers from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, in partnership with agents from the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, apprehended Marcus D. Nichols, 33, of Plantersville, and Brandy M. Allred, 43, of Nettleton.

Both Nichols and Allred were charged with trafficking methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Sheriff Jim H. Johnson confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely. Additionally, the charges against Nichols and Allred may be upgraded based on the results of lab analyses and a grand jury review.

Both suspects were granted bond, set at $75,000. Nichols is currently under supervision by the First District Drug Court, while Allred remains on house arrest with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to gather information.
