Lawrence Cyr Arrested for Theft and Fleeing Police in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WGME) — Lawrence Cyr, 48, of Bangor, is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing from the Walmart on Stillwater Avenue and fleeing from authorities on Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. when they received a report of a shoplifter. Authorities say Cyr fled into the nearby woods when confronted by officers. After several sightings of the suspect, Cyr was arrested around 11:15 a.m. near the Oriental Jade Restaurant & Bar.

Cyr has been charged with theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions of release, and probation violation. He was also wanted on an outstanding felony warrant related to previous convictions.

After being treated for cuts he sustained while fleeing into the woods, Cyr was transported to Penobscot County Jail. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
