Laredo City Worker and Accomplice Arrested in Drug Bust

A Laredo city worker and another individual were arrested on January 29 after a significant drug bust at a home on the 1300 block of Reagan Drive. The Laredo Police Department Narcotics Unit, assisted by the Special Operations Group Unit and Patrol Division, executed a search warrant at the residence.

During the search, officers detained 37-year-old Miguel Angel Sanchez, a supervisor with the City of Laredo Utilities Department, and 37-year-old Jessica Magana. Police discovered 27 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, along with a handgun, ammunition, two digital scales, and five cell phones. These items were confiscated as evidence.

Both Sanchez and Magana were brought to police headquarters for questioning, later being arrested and charged with Manufacturing and Delivering a Controlled Substance, a first-degree felony. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released by authorities. The City of Laredo declined to comment on personnel matters but reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and accountability in city operations.
