Lance Kinsley has been convicted of manslaughter following a tragic incident in which he attacked Christopher King as the father walked home from the pub. The attack, described as “unprovoked,” took place on June 12, 2023, resulting in Mr. King suffering a fractured skull.
The 22-year-old, currently without a fixed address, was found guilty after an eight-day trial at Hull Crown Court. Sentencing is scheduled for September.
In a statement following the verdict, Mr. King’s family expressed their devastation, calling the attack “needless and so unfair.” Mr. King succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on June 26, 2023, with a post-mortem revealing that the cause of death was a head injury.
The incident also injured Mr. King’s son, who was present during the attack on Vane Street. The family described Mr. King as a “lovely man, full of life,” adding that his death is a “huge loss” that will be felt for the rest of their lives.
Detective Chief Inspector Jayne Goodens of Humberside Police condemned Kinsley’s actions, labeling them as “inexcusable.” She emphasized that Mr. King was simply walking home when he was attacked.
As the family grapples with the loss of Christopher King, Kinsley is set to face sentencing on September 24 at Hull Crown Court.
