Lamontra Medlock Arrested for Exploiting Elderly Step-Grandfather

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — Authorities say a Georgia man accused of financially exploiting his 86-year-old step-grandfather has been arrested in Florida.

Lamontra Medlock, 49, was taken into custody last week in St. Augustine by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which included investigators from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).

Medlock was wanted on a Grand Jury Arrest Warrant and now faces the following charges:

Exploitation and Intimidation of a Disabled Adult, Elder Person, or Resident

Twelve counts of Felony Theft by Deception

One count of Misdemeanor Theft by Deception

According to investigators, Medlock is accused of forging checks and misusing bank accounts and credit cards belonging to his elderly step-grandfather between January and July 2022.

Authorities allege Medlock wrote checks to himself totaling $42,600, made unauthorized credit card purchases amounting to $6,821.13, and conducted over $26,000 in phone-based financial transactions—all without the victim’s knowledge or consent.

He has since been extradited to Georgia and is currently being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
