Lake Forest Police Arrest Three for Multiple Lululemon Thefts

LAKE FOREST, IL — Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a series of retail thefts at the Lululemon store in Lake Forest, the Lake Forest Police Department announced. Over the past three months, the store has been targeted in six separate theft incidents, leading to significant losses in merchandise.

Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Kevin Zelk reported that the police have made significant progress in identifying suspects, with more arrests expected. The police department is actively investigating the thefts, and Interim Police Chief Michael Lange emphasized that they are putting together evidence to continue making arrests.

The first major break in the case occurred on June 7, when two female offenders walked into the Lululemon store and stole several items of women’s clothing. Officers quickly identified the vehicle used in the theft—a gray Alfa Romeo SUV—which led them to identify one of the suspects, Cassandra C. King, 32, of Chicago.

King was arrested on June 24 and charged with one count of retail theft, a Class 3 felony. She was later arrested again on July 6 in Forest Park. The female accomplice remains unidentified at this time.

On July 10, police responded to another theft in progress at Lululemon involving three female offenders. Officers tracked the suspects’ black vehicle and were able to block their escape due to traffic. Four women were taken into custody, and around $3,000 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered. Ashaya L. Garrett, 21, of Chicago, and Kayla N. Chambers, 20, of Dolton, were charged with retail theft, a Class 3 felony.

Both Garrett and Chambers were transported to court hearings and released. Their next court appearances are scheduled for later this month.

The police continue to investigate the other four theft incidents, which resulted in over $11,000 in stolen merchandise. With the help of Lululemon Loss Prevention and other law enforcement agencies, Lake Forest Police are working diligently to track down additional suspects involved in the thefts.
