Lagashia Williams and Graciela Amar found themselves in the spotlight last week after a heated altercation with their neighbor on February 19. The dispute escalated when one of the women was seen on camera kicking the elderly dog, Gigi, so violently that it was launched into the air. The video quickly went viral, sparking outrage.
As of Thursday, the Pittsburg Police Department declared the women “armed and dangerous” after issuing warrants for their arrest on multiple felony charges, including animal cruelty and firearms-related offenses. Authorities warned that the pair should be approached with caution due to the presence of a firearm during the incident.
In a social media post, police confirmed that both women were successfully located in Oakland, just hours after the alert was issued. “We want to assure everyone that Gigi is safe at home this evening, while the two suspects are currently in County Jail,” the post read.
The disturbing incident, which involved animal abuse and a firearm, prompted swift action by local authorities. Williams and Amar were arrested and brought to justice, ending their time on the run. The arrest brings relief to those who were horrified by the cruelty displayed in the viral video.
