Kyle Ferguson Jailed for 9 Years After Roof Standoff and Firearm Discovery

Kyle Ferguson was jailed for nine years and 10 months at Grimsby Crown Court
A wanted man who climbed onto a roof and threw bricks and tiles at police officers has been jailed for nine years and 10 months.

Kyle Ferguson, 30, caused a five-hour standoff after he went on top of a house in Coventry Close, Scunthorpe on 30 May.

While he was on the roof an object fell off which police discovered was a firearm and ammunition.

Ferguson eventually climbed down and was arrested but continued to threaten officers, Humberside Police said.Ferguson, of Lambourne Rise in Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He also pleaded guilty to affray, burglary and theft and was jailed at Grimsby Crown Court on Monday.

Det Con Scott Belton said: “Ferguson’s intentions that day were to cause as much disruption as possible. He is a selfish man who had no regard for the local community, the damaged caused to the property, and wider members of the public who would have been affected in some way by his careless actions.

“Thankfully, no police officers were injured because of Ferguson’s mindless behaviour, but five-hours of police time was taken away from other members of the public who could have been in serious harm or needing emergency assistance whilst Ferguson was causing mayhem for no other reason than to evade arrest for as long as he could.

“To then discover that Ferguson was also in possession of a loaded firearm, I am pleased to have removed one from our streets before it was used to fatally or seriously injure someone.”
