Kristy Brumley Arrested in Killing of Louisville Corrections Officer

A woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Louisville Metro Department of Corrections officer, according to court records.

Kristy Brumley, 35, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with complicity to murder and tampering with physical evidence. Authorities say Brumley admitted to driving the victim, Michael Saye Wehdah, to the scene of the shooting, witnessing the attack, and then leaving with his vehicle and phone.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey vowed justice for Officer Wehdah, stating, “His death is a devastating loss to his family, loved ones, and our entire community. We are committed to holding all responsible parties accountable.”

Wehdah, 44, was found shot to death in the 2700 block of Cedar Street on February 16. He had worked for Metro Corrections since August 2023 after immigrating from Liberia and becoming a U.S. citizen in 2022. He was living in Louisville with his wife and teenage son, who recently joined him in the U.S.

Authorities continue investigating the case as they seek additional suspects involved in the murder.
