Kolkata Man Arrested for Stealing Rs 10 Lakh from Self-Help Group in Assam

The police have arrested Krishna Shil, a man from Kolkata, West Bengal, on charges of stealing Rs 10 lakh from a self-help group in Golaghat, Assam. The incident took place on March 3 when Shil allegedly snatched the money, which was a loan from the State Bank of India’s Pulibor branch, meant for a self-help group of 10 women.

Shil carried out the robbery on a bike in front of the post office in Golaghat town. The stolen amount was intended to help the self-help group with their activities. After the theft, a team from the Golaghat Police initiated an investigation and tracked Shil down to Hospitalpara in Kolkata, where he was arrested on Monday.

Currently, Shil is being interrogated, though he has denied involvement in the crime. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
