Kochi Police Arrest Three Students in Major Drug Bust at Polytechnic College

In a significant drug bust, the Kochi police seized 2 kg of ganja from the men’s hostel of Government Polytechnic College in Kalamassery on Thursday night. The raid, which was based on a tip-off about ganja being stored ahead of the Holi celebrations, resulted in the arrest of three students.

The primary accused, Akash (21), a native of Kulathupuzha, Kollam, was found in possession of 1.909 kg of ganja in his hostel room and was booked under a separate FIR. Along with him, two other students, Adithyan (21) from Haripad, Alappuzha, and Abhiraj (21) from Karunagappally, Kollam, were arrested after authorities discovered 9.70 grams of ganja with them.

The police suspect that the seized ganja was intended both for personal use and sale. According to Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) PV Baby, the raid revealed the involvement of both insiders and outsiders in the drug peddling network. Former students and external individuals were also linked to the operation.

As part of their investigation, the police are tracking individuals who frequently visit the hostel and campus. In addition to the drugs, the authorities seized two mobile phones and identity cards from the suspects, which may help trace further leads in the case.
