In a major operation, Kochi Police and the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) carried out raids at multiple locations in West Kochi and Mattancherry, resulting in the seizure of around 450g of MDMA and 250g of ganja. Six individuals were arrested in connection with the operations on Friday.
During a raid at a hotel on Mattancherry Bazar Road, the police recovered 298.06g of MDMA and 6.8g of ganja. The arrested individuals, Rifas Rafeeque, 27, from Chullikkal, Thoppumpady, and Ayesha Gaffer, 39, from Pimpri, Pune, were found in possession of the drugs. Along with the narcotics, the police also seized Rs 2.92 lakh and 667 Oman Riyals. During interrogation, the duo provided information about others involved in drug trafficking, which is helping to further the investigation.
In a separate case, police raided the house of Badusha in Palluruthy, recovering 108.9g of MDMA. However, Badusha was not present during the raid and is currently absconding. Authorities are working to locate him.
The raids also led to the arrest of Sajeer K M, 28, and Adnan Savad, 22, from Mattancherry, with 22.16g of MDMA, 9.41g of hashish oil, and 4.64g of hybrid ganja. Additionally, Shabin M S, 28, from Nasrath, Mattancherry, was arrested with 235g of ganja, and Shanjal, 34, from Karripalam, Mattancherry, was caught with 14g of MDMA in his house and vehicle.
Police are continuing to investigate the source of the drugs and potential distribution networks.
