Kiran Jat Arrested in Rajasthan Teaching Exam Scam

The Cycloner team of the Jodhpur Range has arrested Kiran Jat, a woman linked to the 2021 paper leak gang, in Rajasthan’s Balotra district. Jat was allegedly attempting to secure a teaching job by hiring dummy candidates to take the Rajasthan Eligibility Exam for Teachers (REET) on her behalf. She had been on the run for three years and carried a bounty of Rs25,000.

According to Jodhpur Range Inspector General of Police Vikas Kumar, Jat, 25, fell into bad company while seeking employment. After her father-in-law expelled her from their home, she became estranged from her husband. The police had been gathering information about her whereabouts as she moved across Balotra, Barmer, Sanchore, and Jodhpur districts to evade capture over the past two months.

Jat allegedly paid Rs8 lakh to secure a teaching position, hiring a dummy candidate to sit for her during the exam. Following the uncovering of the REET paper leak, the gang was arrested, and Jat’s involvement was revealed, prompting her to flee.

The police announced a reward oRs25,000 for her capture, leading to further estrangement from her family. During her time on the run, she connected with a young man and filed for divorce. To evade capture, Jat changed her location and phone weekly, even fleeing when police closed in on her hideout in Jhalamand near Jodhpur.

Recently, the Cycloner team also arrested Bhanwari Bishnoi and Sangeeta Bishnoi on charges of manipulating the REET exam. Jat traveled from Jodhpur to Fatehpur (Sikar) but fled again upon sensing police pursuit. Eventually, she was apprehended while attempting to find a new hideout in the Khedapa area of Jodhpur.

To mislead the police, Jat had affixed a Delhi license plate to a Rajasthan car and was using a Fastag from a Gujarat-registered vehicle. A case of number plate fraud has been registered against her at the Khedapa police station.
