An alleged kidnapper and armed robber, 38-year-old Pablo Mamu from Ughelli, Delta State, was arrested by a joint security team of police and vigilante operatives in Anambra State on December 23, 2024.
The arrest followed credible intelligence provided by the public. Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that during the search, Mamu was found with a range of dangerous items, including an OFN rifle, a locally-made pistol, one live 9mm round of ammunition, eight live cartridges, and a black Lexus 330 jeep. The vehicle, bearing different plates—ABJ 159 LC (Abuja) and JRV 928 SX (Enugu)—was also seized.
The security team’s swift action led to the successful capture of the suspect, who had been hiding in a local area. The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the collaborative efforts between the security agencies and the public, emphasizing the vital role of community support in ensuring safety during the festive period.
