In a significant bust, the Kerala police have dismantled an MDMA racket linked to a drug manufacturing facility in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. The Thrissur police arrested Narasimha Raju, the alleged owner of the facility, along with two other Telugu-speaking individuals, including two residents of Hyderabad.
According to the police, the facility in an industrial estate in Hyderabad was producing large quantities of MDMA, using modern foreign equipment. The drugs were being manufactured under the guise of medications for bladder and kidney diseases. The police conducted laboratory tests with the help of personnel from the Thrissur Regional Forensic Science Lab, confirming the presence of chemicals used to produce MDMA.
Raju, who has been in the chemical business for over two decades, is suspected of exporting chemical products internationally and possibly distributing drugs within the film industry. The investigation into the distribution channels both abroad and within the film industry is ongoing.
The bust began on July 2, when a person was arrested with MDMA in the Ollur police station limits of Thrissur. Following this, police discovered 2.5 kilograms of drugs in the person’s residence, leading them to uncover the larger drug manufacturing operation.
