Keokuk Man Arrested on Drug Charges, Faces Felony and Misdemeanor Counts

KEOKUK, IA (KHQA) — A Keokuk man, Richard Buchanan Rhodes, 59, has been arrested on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Lee County.

The arrest occurred after the Keokuk Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Rhodes was a passenger. During the investigation, authorities discovered that Rhodes was in possession of controlled substances. The charges against him include:

Possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a class D felony

Iowa drug tax stamp violation, a class D felony

Possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor

Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force assisted in the investigation, with support from the Keokuk Police Department. Authorities stressed that Rhodes is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is partially funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, with funds administered through the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.
