Kelli Race and Jonathan Alvarez Arrested for Credit Card Fraud

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals following an investigation into stolen credit card use and illegal purchases made at the Canandaigua Walmart.

On June 27, Kelli C. Race, 41, and Jonathan R. Alvarez, 41, were arrested at their home on Crown Oak Drive after a month-long investigation. The two are accused of using a stolen credit card to make purchases at the Walmart in Canandaigua in late May.

Further investigation revealed that Race and Alvarez had stolen someone’s identity to rent a cottage on Canandaigua Lake. While at the property, they entered a restricted area, stole checks, and cashed them using the stolen identity.

A search warrant executed at their home revealed over 50 driver’s licenses, passports, and other forms of identification from suspected victims. Both suspects were arraigned at CAP Court and are currently being held without bail at the Ontario County Jail. They are scheduled to appear in Hopewell and Gorham Town Courts to face the charges.
