HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) – A man wanted for attempted murder after a violent domestic dispute in Mechanicsville over the weekend has been arrested, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced.
On Sunday, just before 6 p.m., deputies responded to the 8100 block of Kiwi Lane for a reported domestic dispute. When they arrived, they found a 61-year-old woman with significant injuries inside the home.
Following a review of the evidence, deputies identified Keith Lamont Hubbard, 61, as the suspect in the incident. Authorities say Hubbard, described as a 6-foot-tall man weighing 180 pounds with black hair and black eyes, was not at the scene when deputies arrived.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office initially investigated the incident as a case of malicious wounding. However, after further investigation, charges against Hubbard were upgraded to attempted murder and aggravated malicious wounding due to the severity of the attack and intent behind it.
On Tuesday, Dec. 31, deputies confirmed that Hubbard was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case, and Hubbard is expected to face charges in connection with the woman’s injuries. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
