Keemie Adkins, 33, from Georgetown, Delaware, was arrested on December 27, 2024, after a stolen vehicle led to a high-speed pursuit and a crash. The incident began early in the morning when Adkins stole a vehicle in the 32000 block of Shoppes at Long Neck Boulevard in Millsboro. The vehicle owner had started the car to warm it up before briefly going inside, and when they returned, the car, along with personal items, was missing.
Later that day, at approximately 12 p.m., Delaware State Police Troop 4 Governor’s Task Force located the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull over Adkins. However, the driver fled, driving aggressively and breaking several traffic laws. The police pursuit was called off once the Delaware State Police Aviation Section began tracking the vehicle.
Adkins abandoned the vehicle in Avalon Woods, where it crashed into a tree while a passenger remained inside. The crash did not result in any injuries. After a brief foot chase, Adkins was apprehended by officers. Investigators found drug paraphernalia and two baggies of suspected heroin inside the vehicle. They also discovered that Adkins had a suspended/revoked driver’s license.
Adkins, who had picked up a 41-year-old Georgetown passenger earlier that morning, was charged with multiple offenses, including Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Resisting Arrest, and drug-related charges, such as Possession of a Controlled/Counterfeit Substance. Additionally, he was charged with theft of the motor vehicle and theft under $1500.
Adkins was taken to Troop 7, where he was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $15,440 cash bond for the pursuit-related charges. He was also issued a $4,000 unsecured bond for the vehicle theft charges.
The Delaware State Police remind the public to take precautions to protect their vehicles, such as locking them and never leaving them unattended while running.
