Kearney Man Shelby Olson Sentenced to 10 Years for Meth Distribution

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) — Shelby Olson, 46, of Kearney, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine, with no possibility of parole.

The sentencing follows an investigation led by the Nebraska State Patrol. In the summer of 2022, a confidential informant made three separate meth purchases from Olson. Each transaction was recorded on video, clearly identifying Olson as the seller. The first of these purchases took place inside a commercial motor vehicle, during which Olson was also filmed smoking meth while driving.

In addition to his prison sentence, Olson will serve five years of supervised release following his release from prison. The case was prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr.
