Lafayette Woman Arrested in Connection to Domestic Shooting
LAFAYETTE, LA (NEWS 15) — Kaylen Jones, a 19-year-old from St. Martinville, has been arrested in connection to a deadly domestic shooting that occurred on Pinhook Road in Lafayette on Sunday, February 9. Jones faces charges of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice (evidence tampering). Her bond has been set at $25,000.
According to Lafayette police, Jones turned herself in following the incident. Investigators revealed that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute involving Wikeem Smith, 20, of Lafayette, who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, Keiara Ledet, 21, also of Lafayette.
Smith was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, possession of marijuana, and resisting an officer. Additionally, he was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
