Two teenagers are facing serious charges after they allegedly tried to break into an apartment in Cedar Rapids, believing it contained drugs.
19-year-old Kayden Jakel of Cedar Rapids and 17-year-old Clayton O’Brien of Lisbon have been charged with first-degree robbery, attempted burglary, and going armed with intent. Court documents also reveal that O’Brien had marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms in his possession at the time of the incident.
The attempted break-in occurred over the weekend at the Reserve at Kirkwood apartment complex. Police were called after the resident of the apartment reported seeing Jakel and O’Brien through the peephole, trying to kick down the door.
Since O’Brien is underage, his mugshot is not available, but he appears to be charged as an adult in this case.
Both teens are now facing multiple felony charges for their actions.
