Kanwar Pal Singh Arrested for Stealing Gold Items from Delivery Firm

Kanwar Pal Singh, a 34-year-old employee of an online delivery firm, was arrested by Delhi Police for stealing gold items intended for delivery to a customer. The police recovered the stolen articles, along with a car, a motorcycle, household items, and Rs 18,500 in cash.

Singh, a resident of Palam Village, confessed to the crime during questioning, explaining that he had stolen the items to pay off his debts and fund his lavish lifestyle. He admitted to selling some of the stolen gold to cover his rent dues and purchase a vehicle and other items for his home.

On August 20, the delivery company reported the theft of gold items intended for a customer in Dwarka South. Singh, who was responsible for handling deliveries for the firm, was assigned to deliver the gold. However, instead of completing the delivery, Singh took the items and went off the radar, making himself untraceable.

After the company filed a complaint, a case of breach of trust was registered, and a police team under ACP M.L. Meena and Inspector Sanjeev Mandal initiated a manhunt for Singh.

The police examined CCTV footage, activated local informants, and traced Singh, who had switched off his phone and moved to a different residence after the theft. On November 11, an informer tipped off the police about Singh’s whereabouts, leading to a raid at his hideout in Palam Village. There, the police found the stolen gold, a pair of silver anklets, a motorcycle, a washing machine, and other items, all of which Singh had acquired using the proceeds from the theft.

During interrogation, Singh revealed that his financial struggles had driven him to steal. Desperate to pay off his debts and live a more comfortable life, he plotted the theft and sold the stolen gold to cover his immediate needs.
