Kammar Henry-Richards, 26, a drill rapper known as Kay-O, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 37 years for the murder of 25-year-old Kacey Boothe. The fatal shooting occurred outside the Peterhouse Community Centre in Walthamstow, north-east London, in August 2022, during a children’s party.
Henry-Richards was convicted along with three others: Ka’mani Brightly-Donaldson, 25, Joao Pateco-Te, 28, and Jeffrey Gyimah, 23. All four men were associated with rival gangs, with the E9 and Holly Street gangs involved in a longstanding feud with the London Fields gang.
The murder of Kacey Boothe was described as a revenge attack, aimed at his friend Khalid Samanter, who was believed to be the intended target. Despite attending a party for a one-year-old child, Kacey became the victim of this violent gang conflict.
The court heard that Henry-Richards had previously boasted in his drill lyrics about using the same gun in the attack that had been used in a previous shooting of Kacey’s older brother, Kyle Boothe. The lyrics contained details about Kacey’s death that had not been publicly revealed, linking the gang to the crime.
Judge Lynn Tayton KC remarked that the shooting was a planned act of revenge, committed in a public space, and highlighted the ongoing cycle of violence between rival gangs.
