Kabreshia Caldwell Arrested for Stealing $10,000 from Elderly Walmart Shoppers

Jacksonville, FL – Kabreshia Caldwell, 47, was arrested for stealing over $10,000 from elderly shoppers at Walmart and Publix stores across Northeast Florida. Between May 2022 and March 2023, Caldwell targeted over 20 senior citizens, aged 61 to 94, stealing their wallets and later using their identification to make fraudulent ATM withdrawals.

Surveillance footage captured Caldwell in the act of swiping the victims’ wallets while they shopped, and authorities were able to trace her actions. The news of the theft has sparked concern among Jacksonville residents, especially those with elderly family members.

“It’s very concerning, but it’s not a surprise either,” said Darlene Yauger, a concerned local resident. “My mother, she is 90 years old. Her mind says I can handle things, and she can’t.”

The crime has left many residents upset, with one anonymous person commenting, “It’s sad to see that happen especially to someone that can’t get up and go back to work tomorrow to make that money back up again.”

Caldwell has now been charged with over 30 counts of petit theft, fraud, and grand theft. She was already serving time for unrelated charges but has since been transferred to Clay County Jail. Her bond is set at $155,000, and her court appearance is scheduled for March 11.

In a related incident, a Walmart delivery driver, Jeremiah Boyer, was arrested for stealing over $52,000 by falsely claiming “heavy item” fees on orders. Boyer used fake names and accounts to pocket the fees without fulfilling the orders, another example of retail theft in the region.

Retailers have been ramping up their anti-theft measures to combat such crimes. Strategies include locking items in cabinets, using security cameras, placing receipt checks, and implementing carts with locking technology to deter theft.
