San Antonio – Julie Lopez, 19, has been arrested in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Isaiah Guevera, who was fatally shot in his apartment on October 26, 2024. Lopez is accused of setting up Guevera for a robbery by orchestrating the crime with mutual friends. Guevera’s family believes the crime was not a robbery, but a targeted murder.
Lopez and Guevera had been friends since middle school and had planned to meet up on the night of the incident. Surveillance footage from a Quiktrip store showed Lopez with a distinctive cup before the killing, and further investigation revealed that she had been in communication with another person involved in the crime.
Around 3:40 a.m., doorbell camera footage captured Lopez and two unidentified individuals running from Guevera’s apartment after gunshots were heard. When authorities arrived, they found Guevera dead from gunshot wounds, and a Quiktrip cup with red liquid inside was discovered at the scene.
Ballistic evidence connected the shell casings to a firearm traced back to an incident related to Lopez’s residence, further implicating her in the crime. An anonymous tip also revealed that Lopez had confessed her role in the murder to a relative.
Guevera’s family has expressed their devastation, with his aunt, Christina Rodriguez, saying, “We lost a son, brother, father, and friend.” Although Lopez is in custody, two other suspects remain at large.
Lopez has been charged with murder for allegedly orchestrating the robbery and killing of Guevera.
