Joshua Fellows Jailed for Dangerous Driving After Police Chase

Joshua Fellows, 26, was sentenced to 10 months in prison following a dangerous high-speed chase in Northumberland. Despite being banned from driving since 2023, Fellows was spotted behind the wheel of a black Mercedes E220 on the A1 on April 9. When police signaled him to stop, he refused and led officers on a reckless 15-minute pursuit.

During the chase, Fellows sped through traffic, drove on the wrong side of the road, and narrowly avoided collisions with other vehicles. Police deployed a stinger device that damaged his tires, but Fellows continued driving until he abandoned the car and fled on foot into a nearby field.

A police helicopter had tracked the entire pursuit and hovered low, allowing an inspector to leap from the aircraft and apprehend Fellows quickly.

At Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Tim Gittins condemned Fellows’ “highly dangerous” driving and noted how fortunate no serious injuries or deaths occurred. Fellows was banned from driving for four years and five months and must pass an extended driving test before regaining his license.
