Joshua Ducey Arrested for Stealing Mail Van in Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls police have arrested a man accused of stealing a postal van and attempting to carjack a teenage driver after crashing the vehicle.

According to authorities, the incident occurred near McKennan Park, where a postal worker had parked the mail van. A man approached the worker, demanded the keys, and then drove off in the stolen vehicle. Shortly after, he lost control and crashed into some bushes on Duluth Avenue.

Following the crash, the suspect attempted to hijack another vehicle. Police say he approached a car driven by a 17-year-old girl on Minnesota Avenue, opened the door, and tried to force her out. The teenager quickly locked the door and prevented the theft before the suspect fled the scene.

Officers later apprehended the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Joshua Ducey. He was taken into custody and charged with grand theft and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
