San Mateo Man Arrested After Alleged Shoplifting and Resistance
Jose PirirBoch, 41, faces felony charges after threatening officers
On Christmas Eve, Jose PirirBoch, a 41-year-old resident of San Mateo, was arrested after allegedly attempting to shoplift from a Safeway store and then resisting arrest when confronted by police.
At approximately 4:45 p.m. on December 24, officers responded to a theft report at a Safeway on South El Camino Real. The store employee provided a description of the suspect, who had reportedly left the scene.
Police officers located PirirBoch near 17th and Palm Avenues, where he allegedly swung a metal chain toward an officer as they approached him. PirirBoch then fled on foot, with officers giving chase. After catching up, he reportedly tried to fight the officers, prompting one to deploy a taser to subdue him.
After being medically evaluated at a hospital, PirirBoch was booked into the San Mateo County Jail. He faces charges of resisting arrest, threatening a police officer, and petty theft, with a prior record of theft-related offenses. He was held without bail.
