Jose Leon Navarrette Arrested for Riverside Parking Lot Murder

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A 25-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in a Riverside AutoZone parking lot on Feb. 21.

The Riverside Police Department identified the suspect as Jose Leon Navarrette, a Riverside resident.

Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 10:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of University Avenue, where they discovered 52-year-old Carlos Delreal inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Navarrette had fled before officers arrived, but homicide detectives later identified him as the suspected shooter. He was located and arrested on Feb. 27 at a motel in Colton and is now being held without bail on a murder charge.

Police have not confirmed if Navarrette and Delreal knew each other or what led to the deadly shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
