Jose Gomez-Alvarez & Chyanne Porter Plead Guilty to Abuse of a Corpse

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) — Two individuals, Jose Gomez-Alvarez and Chyanne Porter, have pleaded guilty to charges related to the abuse of a corpse following the discovery of remains in a storage facility in Owensboro in 2022.

The case began two years ago when the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a missing person. Police soon learned that Gomez-Alvarez and Porter, who were reportedly transient and caring for several children, were involved in the disappearance of a young girl. Authorities’ investigation led them to a storage facility in Owensboro, where a container rented by Porter was found to contain a tote with suspected human remains.

After two years of legal proceedings, both Gomez-Alvarez and Porter have now pleaded guilty to the charges. Chyanne Porter was sentenced to seven years in prison, while Jose Gomez-Alvarez will serve five years for their involvement in the crime.

Charges against the suspects:
Chyanne Porter: Criminal Abuse in the Second Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Abuse of a Corpse.
Jose Gomez-Alvarez: Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Abuse of a Corpse.
This case highlights the disturbing crime that led to the tragic discovery of human remains and the justice process following the event. Both suspects now face significant prison sentences for their roles in the death and subsequent concealment of the remains.
