Jose Antonio Acosta Faces First-Degree Murder Charge in Wichita Rampage

Wichita Man Arrested for Deadly Shooting Rampage
Wichita police have arrested 33-year-old Jose Antonio Acosta in connection with a violent shooting spree that left one man dead, a dog injured, and several others targeted.

On November 22, Acosta allegedly went on a violent rampage, firing numerous shots. The series of incidents ended when Wichita police shot him, and he was taken into custody. Following treatment for his injuries, Acosta appeared in Sedgwick County District Court on Wednesday, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Myron Tucker.

Acosta faces an extensive list of charges, including:

One count of first-degree murder
Two counts of aggravated robbery
Two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm
Three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (including two counts against law enforcement)
Two counts of battery
One count of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon
Acosta’s bond was set at $5 million, and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 11.

Sheriff Jeff Easter of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Acosta was the individual responsible for the shooting spree. The tragic events resulted in the death of Tucker and injuries to another victim’s dog.
