Jordan Behling Pleads Guilty to Robbery and Assault in Facebook Marketplace Scam

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Jordan Behling, 23, of Wheatley Heights, has pleaded guilty to robbery in the first degree and related charges following a violent incident involving a theft arranged through Facebook Marketplace.

On June 16, 2023, Behling met with a victim who had arranged to buy a PlayStation 5 from him through Facebook Marketplace. After receiving $280 in cash from the victim, Behling grabbed the money and sped off in his 2020 Chevy Equinox while the victim was still partially inside the vehicle.

Behling drove for two blocks, weaving through traffic and attempting to shake the victim off the car. The victim was eventually dislodged after Behling sideswiped a parked car. The victim suffered serious injuries, including a shattered pelvis, and required multiple surgeries.

Police quickly identified the vehicle used in the crime, which had been rented by a family member of Behling. After further investigation, it was revealed that Behling had committed similar thefts in the past, stealing money from two other victims under the guise of selling PlayStation consoles.

On December 19, 2024, Behling pleaded guilty to the following charges:

One count of Robbery in the First Degree, a Class B felony
One count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class B felony
One count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D felony
One count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Serious Physical Injury, a Class E felony
Behling is scheduled to be sentenced on February 13, 2025, and is expected to serve five years in prison. He is represented by attorney Matthew Tuohy, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Emma Henry and Alexander Bopp.

The investigation was conducted by Detective Walter Sosnowski of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

Criminal complaints and indictments are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
