A man from Sequatchie County, Tennessee, has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide after deputies say he fatally stabbed 18-year-old Billy Jean Floyd, who was found in bed with Belk’s wife on Saturday. Jonathan Belk, 41, is now in custody after a violent confrontation at their home.
According to an affidavit, Belk’s wife told Sequatchie County deputies that an “unidentified man” had attacked her boyfriend while they were together in bed. However, investigators later determined the “unidentified man” was actually Belk. Deputies found Belk standing in the doorway of the home, covered in blood with cuts on his hands.
Upon further investigation, deputies discovered Floyd’s body inside a bloody trashcan, curled in a fetal position with multiple stab wounds. Belk admitted his involvement, telling deputies he was more concerned about his relationship with his wife than his legal situation, saying, “I am worried about my relationship with my wife due to the fact that I offed him.”
Belk’s wife also suffered stab wounds but survived the attack. Investigators are continuing to search for the weapon used in the crime, but they’ve assured the public that the incident appears to be isolated to that home and there is no ongoing danger to the community.
Belk is facing multiple charges, including criminal homicide, and is currently being held in Sequatchie County Jail.
