Johnny Pena Arrested for Over 100 Retail Thefts in San Jose

Johnny Pena, a San Jose man, has been arrested for allegedly committing over 100 retail thefts across the city, targeting businesses like Home Depot, Lowes, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Target. Police began investigating Pena in March, and on October 28, 2024, he was arrested and booked into the Elmwood Men’s Correctional Complex for grand theft. Pena is being held without bail. The investigation was part of the city’s efforts to tackle organized retail theft, supported by an $8.4 million grant. Mayor Matt Mahan and Police Chief Paul Joseph emphasized the negative impact of such crimes on the community.
