John Thomas White Arrested for Stolen Vehicle, Drugs, and Gun Possession

WALDORF, Md. – A 20-year-old man from Hyattsville, John Thomas White III, was arrested on March 11 following an attempted traffic stop in Waldorf, Maryland. Officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of Promenade Place near Aldergate Place at approximately 10:44 p.m.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the scene, but officers were able to use stop sticks, which disabled the vehicle. White, the driver, fled from the vehicle on foot but was apprehended without further incident.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of cannabis and a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen in Virginia. White, who is prohibited from possessing a firearm, was charged with multiple offenses, including theft, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a loaded handgun in the car, possession with intent to distribute drugs, and traffic-related charges.

The handgun and the drugs were seized as evidence, and White was taken into custody. He is currently being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
