Two men, John Paul Thomas, 45, and Sean Newbury, 39, have been charged with fraud by false representation following a series of incidents targeting elderly residents in Gosport. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary received multiple reports of rogue trader fraud, with six out of nine incidents involving victims aged over 65.

Both men are set to appear in Portsmouth Crown Court next month. They were initially presented at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on August 17 and have since been remanded in custody. Police indicated that the reported fraud cases involved substantial sums of money, heightening concerns within the community.
